Training Blip - RSA Generous Donation

Terry made a bad decision deciding to take a break from marathon training to drink beer with his brother at Beervana. For those uninitiated, Beervana is a celebration of NZ beer with generally the smaller brewers sampling their various beers. The event was in the Cake Tin's concourse meaning you could walk around and around in a big circle with beer, food and entertainment everywhere. We went to the early Friday session thinking there wouldn't be too many people there. Wrong, the place was chocker! As people spread out it did get better, however there must have been a high chance of getting a bug from all those humans. The flights to Wellington and back would have also been a great opportunity to get some sort cold or flu. This bug seemed to go away pretty quickly but yesterday when I was out training it hit me again, and even harder.  Full on headache and body aches. Not ideal for training.
I am resting up today, drinking lots of fluids like my Mum always told me and doing my blog.

Last night it was club night at the Ashburton RSA and thanks to Lynne Bridge they presented me with a donation for $600 to help with my fundraising. When I rocked up it was struggle to get a park which suggested there were a few people at the club. And there heaps of people there. I arrived just as they dimmed the lights and the "Ode of Remembrance" was recited for our service men and woman. As the old man called it the Hero's Club was buzzing with plenty of older folk as you would expect but other younger people as well. I found out they have associate members that do not have a return serviceman link. There to enjoy the relatively cheap beer and atmosphere. After they had drawn a few raffles they they got me up for a presentation of their donation. I then spoke to the club for 5 or 6 minutes explaining what I was doing. I got a great reception and before you could say Speights Beer they had a whip around and filled a jug up with donations, another $240!! Very generous people!!
