Frosty Hagley Park with team Achilles

Some variety in the training this week with the racing wheelchair heading out on its usual route plus another visit to Hagley Park to training with the Achilles Christchurch chapter. I was also busy on the rowing machine. This week I was also lucky enough to get a significant donation from Forest Management Ltd (FML) who I had a long history working with while at the Council. I am hoping other businesses may also be able to help me out.

Some of the Achilles Crew getting ready for training

My latest training session today was up at Hagley Park with Achilles. To get to this training I get up at about 6am, have a quick breakfast and do my toileting and then drive up to Christchurch. The car needed defrosting with the temperature at -2. I park at the arts centre to use the car charger, put the wheels on my racing chair and then push the chair down to the Antigua boatsheds where the Achilles group meet. This was after being up in Christchurch again last night for the Super Rugby Pacific final where it was also cold. By the way if you didn't hear the result, it was another title for the mighty mighty Crusaders!!

The training completed since my last post has been;

  • 15 June rowing machine - 16km, 1 hour 19 minutes.
  • 16 June pushrim racing chair - 31km, 2 hours 9 minutes
  • 17 June rowing machine - 17.5km, 1 hour 25 minutes
  • 18 June donated blood at Ashburton Hotel
  • 18 June rowing machine - 7km, 36 minutes
  • 20 June pushrim racing chair - 21.2km, 1 hour 38 minutes
  • 21 June rowing machine - 17km, 1 hour 28 minutes
  • 22 June pushrim racing chair (Hagley Park) - 17.6km, 1 hour 16 minutes
