Training continues with the weather being kind. With just over a week since the recommencement of training I have been doing pushes over 20km again. The technique seems to be going ok as I try to achieve a reasonable pace with average speeds approximately 14.5 km/hour. If I could maintain this pace through the marathon I would achieve a time of 2 hours 55 min. Training now needs to aim to extend the distances I travel while maintaining a reasonable pace. I also need to do some training with some hills in preparation for the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge climb. Following the Christchurch half marathon I have been experiencing quite sore shoulders. This soreness did not relent even with the 10 day rest. I did have some similar issues when training for the 2015 marathon. To help with this I went to sports masseuse, she also massaged horses. Needless to say she was quite vigorous. Hopefully the body holds together and adjusts to the training routine. The image with this post is a screen shoot from the output of my Samsung smart watch.
It looks like we have a confirmed date for my big fund raising event - The New York Marathon Fundraiser Quiz Night. The quiz will be at the Hampstead Allsports Clubrooms on Friday 15 August. More information soon.
