Saved By Tech
I headed out for another training session this morning before we went to Clearwater. For 9-30am it was pretty breezy and quite tough going most of the way out. My usual route is an out and back course, through some town streets and eventually onto rural roads. When I think I have done enough I will spin around and head for home. Today I turned around in a different spot, a driveway on Mitcham Rd. Unfortunately, as I was about to do my U-turn a ute came up behind me meaning I had to stop in the gravel. Not easy to get going again with the gravel, grass and the road camber to deal with.
The generally favourable grade and tail wind made the trip back a lot quicker. When I got back into to town I was still travelling at a good pace when I noticed a Range Rover backing out of a driveway. There was no way that the person driving this car could see me unless they were looking at their reversing camera. What did save me was the cars parking sensors that detected the chair and made the vehicle brake.
SAVED BY TECH! In future I will keep further out in the road to give me a chance to avoid reversing vehicles. If you are a reserving car and only using your rear vision mirrors, I am virtually invisible.
