10 Km Push 25 November 2024
Hello family, friends and anybody else who wants to join me on my journey.
This blog will record my efforts to compete in the wheelchair section of the New York City marathon in 2025. I have completed this marathon in 2015 but I punctured about 6 km from the finish line. With this less than ideal completion of the marathon I have always wanted to go back and do it right. Ten years on and now in my sixties my aim is to get to that start line again and to finish the marathon with without incident. Helping me to achieve this goal I have brand new racing wheelchair funded by ACC. With this new set of wheels and a lot of training and some financial help I believe can again complete this classic race.

Yesterday (25 November) I completed a 10 km push, the longest distance I have completed since 2016. Even though I have been keeping fit on my rowing machine and the odd row at Lake Hood this type of exercise is quite different. For starters getting into the chair is challenging with my long legs and getting my hips into the very snug chassis. At the end of this rather modest distance I was knackered and bathed in sweat. This confirms I need to start regular training.

Awesome Terry, keep up the hard work, so good to be in the loop x
