Has Terry Got a Screw Loose?
Yvonne and I headed out for another push yesterday evening. I had probably spent too long on the rowing machine with a slow paced 10km. I had though 4 or 5 hours to recover so believed I would be ok. After getting into the chair we headed out on our usual route past the hospital and up to Allenton. This first part of the push is quite challenging with Elizabeth Street a false flat heading up to Allenton. As we started up this small climb I was really struggling, and it seemed that I had cooked myself on the rowing machine. Things did not improve much as we headed through Allenton. Eventually I realised my right wheel was making a rubbing noise. We thought it might have been the seat straps but these were ok. Unable to sort the issue we decided to head home. The rubbing seemed to be getting worse as we headed back. When we got home and I exited the chair the problem was obvious, the right wheel was loose. A quickly tightening up the axial with an allen key and the wheel was sorted. See the allen key slot in the hub of the wheel in the photo.
Talking about getting into and out of the chair I will post a video of this procedure to give you some idea how difficult this is. Especially getting out after a hard push.
